Happy New Year's Eve

Remember: this is amateur night, so if you have to be out and about, be careful! Also remember that the only surefire remedy for a hangover is time. Why not spend some of it at the beach, watching the waves roll in, contemplating your future and taking a long nap bewtween games. Oh, the weather? Normal. Nothin' much goin' on.

Home again, Home again, Jiggedy Jig

Alas, I have not deserted you for sunnier climes - just in Seattle having Christmas with family. Today in CB there is a great big "sucker hole" of blue sky, no snow, no ice, no wind - just business as usual for early winter. Leave all that dirty snow behind and come and take a walk on the beach.

What can I tell you...

that you don't already know? We have no argument with the media coverage our winter weather is getting. Everybody is right on; it's the pits. Actually, this morning the sun was shining on three inches of fresh powder snow - and if you've never seen snow on the beach or Haystack Rock - you are in for a treat. By afternoon, it was slushy and now, early evening, it's turning to ice. PHOOEY!

ATTENTION: Update!!

The sky just turned dark gray and it is raining ICE. Stay home, hunker down with a good book and we'll see you another day...

Cold, Clear, Calm...

Aren't you sick of weather hysterics? And of weather, period? Well, Cannon Beach decided to check out of all the foolishness and have an ordinary late fall, early winter day. It is sunny and cold - NOT freezing. No rain, no snow, nothin' that would make anybody nervous.

If you drive VERY slowly to get here...

you will be treated to snow on the beach under a spectacular blue sky. There are lots of smiling faces in town as people make their way around in the cold, all bundled up, enjoying the shops. And...there is LOTS of parking!

Today is the Day...

to come to the beach! The nastiness predicted on Highway 26 has NOT materialized, we are happy to say. I went down to the beach at Tolovana so I could give you a report. The gray sky is so low and the waves are so big and frothy that it looks like they are starting on the horizon. It is truly a gorgeous ocean today - nothing like it anywhere else. Come on over and look for glass balls that made the swim from Asian parts and ports. This is the perfect day for that activity.

Storm Watcher's Delight!

It's blowin' up a gale, the ocean is big and frothy, we are cozy and warm inside...it's a perfect time to come to the beach, see a terrific storm and hunker down with a hot toddy to watch the ocean!

The Sky is NOT Falling!

It is still beautiful and mild here today - sunny skies and no wind. Yes, I know what we are supposed to be looking for starting tomorrow, but BE HERE NOW! Will let you know what REALLY materializes tomorrow. Keep watching...

A Drip and a Drizzle...

Alas, our clear skies are obscured today and it looks a lot like December. It's a bit drippy but nothing dramatic and it isn't cold. The town is aglow with lights and a mid-week trip to Cannon Beach is just the thing to rejuvenate your Holiday spirit!

Nary a Cloud in the Sky

The sun is shining, the stores are chock full of great things for Holiday Shopping, everyone is in a good mood - now all we need to make this picture complete is YOU!

Is it summer?

Hurry up and get over here! The sun is shining brightly, it's warm and skies are clear. Yes, it's December, but it looks like July! Not at all like it was a year ago when some of us were shivering in the dark. This is a great improvement. Don't miss this gorgeousness - come on over - there's LOTS of parking!

One Year Anniversary

A year ago today we had one GRAND windstorm. Winds just south of us clocked at 129 mph. Take that, you wimpy Floridians! There followed six days of no power, no cell phones and lots of small town camaraderie. A good time was had by most. Today, it is gray and mild, occasionally drippy, but not bad for December 2; at least not when compared to last year!
